I don't use it to save wine for another day. I actually use this to find out which wines taste better after breathing.
I don't want to leave an expensive wine in a decanter over night unless I KNOW that a prolonged decanting will help. How do I know if the wine improves with increased oxidation? The first time I try a wine I pour a glass or two (through my Respirer, forget Vinturi). I drink one within the first 1/2 hour. I drink the second after 1 1/2 to 2 hours. For the rest of the bottle I vacuum out the air and save for the next day.
The Vacu-vin has NOTHING to do if the wine will taste good/better the next day, it is all up to the wine. I have found some wines that are COMPLETELY different (as in much better) wines the next day. You never know what a wine is capable of unless it has been decanted and/or drank 18-24 hours later. Some wines turn, but others bloom. The trick is finding which wines will do what and this is an excellent tool for determining that.

this company had a decent product. it worked pretty well. then, for a reason only they know, the company changed the style of the stopper - the part that goes into the bottle.
the new stoppers do not work! i used the old stoppers for wine and for coffe. the new ones are useless. the old style stoppers were more cylindrical and had more vanes. the mechanism did create a good seal and a good vacuum. the air stayed out of the bottle. the new ones are "tapered" with one vane that doesn't touch any part of the bottle. the new ones don't create much of a vacuum and air creeps in within a very short time.
i've called the company and requested a refund.
i can't understand why they'd take a product that worked and turn it into one that didn't. (i'll bet the marketing department had something to do with it.) they were fools. but i'll be looking elsewhere this kind of product.

The "original stoppers" with 3 rings on the barrel were great. The "new" ones with 1 ring are a disaster. Why VACU-VIN changed the design, I will never know, but when the 3 ring stoppers wear out, I'm gone.
